LH-CDC Conquers the International Autonomous Vehicle Challenge 2023

Excellently surpassing the 11 strongest student teams from prestigious universities, LH-CDC (a coalition of three faculties: Mechatronics and Electronics, English Language, and Information Technology) of Lac Hong University made history by becoming one of the three Vietnamese student teams to enter the semi-finals of the Bosch Future Mobility Challenge (BFMC), which gathered outstanding teams from all over the world, held in Romania, Europe in May 2023. This achievement is considered the most impressive feat of Vietnam, having a team reach such a far distance.

Before this significant challenge, the three Vietnamese teams made efforts in training and meticulous preparation on the test track sponsored by Bosch Vietnam.

DAY OF CHALLENGES AT THE BOSCH FUTURE MOBILITY CHALLENGE

Tension and surprises are unfolding at the center stage of the Bosch Future Mobility Challenge (BFMC) on the morning of May 6, 2023. The three Vietnamese representative teams still maintain a resilient spirit to cope with various challenges.

As of now, LH-CDC has defeated 18 out of 24 teams, temporarily holding the record as the only undefeated team. Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tan - Head of the Automotive Engineering Department, Mentor of LH-CDC team from Lac Hong University, shared insights into the challenges faced: "Encountering difficulties due to limited experience in this competition and restricted test run time, the LH-CDC team created makeshift tracks to have more test run time as much as possible."

It is known that prior to this, students worked on Bosch projects with the collaboration of Bosch experts and lecturers from various universities for several months to develop the best-performing algorithms. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for students to practice and experience their creativity.

The Bosch Future Mobility Challenge 2023 (BFMC) is an international autonomous vehicle competition for students organized by the Bosch technical center in Romania since 2017.

Every year, the competition invites student teams from all over the world to develop algorithms for connecting and autonomously driving RC models with a scale of 1:10 provided by Bosch to control in a simulated environment of a miniature smart city.
